Hong Kong

Monday 14th Jan

I am going to Hong Kong today, I hope I can get my photo taken with the pilot! It will take 11 hours to fly from London to Hong Kong, but I don't mind, I can watch films, and play games, and have something to eat. I won't have time to sleep!

Tuesday 15th Jan

Arrived in Hong Kong. Very strange that I have lost 8 hours of my life while I have been in the air! Went for a walk on Hong Kong harbour, the laser show was great. Looking forward to going to China tomorrow with my friend Patricia.

Wednesday 16th Jan

Met Patricia who took me over the border into China, we went on the train. Not as many people in China speak English so I was lucky to have Patricia to translate for me. China is very different to Hong Kong, there is more space, lots of trees, and lots of people. The Olympics will be here in August. Most events will be in Beijing in the north, that is where the Great Wall of China is. It stretches for 6,400km, that's the length of Great Britain 7 times!

Another famous attraction in China is the Terra Cotta Army. It is estimated there are 7,000 statues of soldiers, most of them still burried, all different shapes and sizes. It is thought they were built to protect the Emperor in his grave. Click on the photo to see the horses too!

Went on a boat to Lantau Island to see the Big Buddah. He is the largest seated Buddah in the world, 34 meters high, 250 tonnes, and 268 steps to climb! Click on the photo for a closer look.

Thursday 17th Jan

Had a walk around Hong Kong, it was very busy with lots of people. Went to 'The Peak' on a tram, great views from the top, then to Ladies Market to get some gifts to take home.

These are my new friends, they took lots of photos of me in their shop. I told them I would put a photo in my log book, and they were very excited.

Friday 18th Jan

Arrived back at Heathrow, got the 8 hours back that I lost on the way out, and a photo with the pilot!
