Madeira

Friday 23rd November

I'm very excited today because I am going to Madeira on an aeroplane. I got to the airport early to say hello to my friend Paddington, he doesn't travel anywhere, but he likes to read my logbooks.

Arrived in Madeira with a bit of a bumpy landing but good fun. I had my photo taken in the cockpit with the pilot, he's my new friend.

I had a walk around the town and tried the local dish of fish with banana, a strange mix but tasted good. I'm very tired now, looking forward to exploring tomorrow.

Saturday 24th November

I was woken up early by a cruise ship blowing it's horn. I went for a walk to the fortress, Madeira is very hilly, not good for a little bear with little legs.

Then I went on a cable car to a church high up on the mountain which was great fun, but the best bit was coming down, I went on a sledge which looked like a bread basket, pushed by two men wearing straw hats.

Sunday 25th November

I went to the bus station to see where I could go for the day. A lady said Porto was a good place to visit so I bought a ticket. The lady didn't tell me Porto was on the other side of the island, and that the mountain roads were very high and very narrow. It was a bit scary but I'm glad I went, I found a house just my size.

Monday 26th November

I had a big breakfast before the bus came to take me back to the airport. I watched the aeroplanes taking off and landing, it was very windy, I was nearly blown away! I watched Stardust on the aeroplane, and fell asleep dreaming about my next adventure........
